Visitors wanting a quiet and calm atmosphere when skating this season can enjoy one of our relaxed skating sessions, with no music or flashing lights.
These sessions are ideal for people who would benefit from a more relaxed atmosphere, including those with an autism spectrum condition, learning disability, or communication and sensory disorder.
We want people of all abilities and ages to be able to enjoy Canterbury on Ice, and these sessions are designed for individuals and families who would prefer to skate without noise or bright lights. Prices are the same as our standard skating sessions.
Canterbury Christmas Lights Switch-On 2019

Prepare to watch Canterbury light up and sparkle at the annual Christmas Lights Switch-On event.
Help the cast of the Marlowe Theatre’s Panto: Mother Goose launch Christmas by counting down and lighting up the city. Expect live music and entertainment as you wait for the magical moment the big red button is pressed with KMFM breakfast presenters Garry and Laura.
While you wait for the lights will be turned on between 5.30pm and 5.50pm, why not visit the Christmas Market on St George’s Street – expect a food hall with delicious delicacies, local makers selling their wares – they will even have a helter skelter and giant snow globe to enjoy!
The Christmas market will stay open after the switch on, so you can enjoy mulled wine while perusing the handcrafted gifts on sale.
Free Park & Ride will be available from 3pm, so there will be no rush to get back to your car!
